So while watching New World (awful awful movie!!!!)) I starting knitting an Olive green skinny scarf out of some Lions Brand Woolese I had in the car along with a set of slippery Aluminum Circulars that I hate..((I know I know but I actually like Lions brand)). Well the project got put down after about 5 inches because the movie was so bad I went Lathargic. Now I have started using it as a sampler of sorts doing drop stiches ribs and so forth...The result so far is very punky, I am naming it Haphazard and I know just the person to give it to...Yay for improvisation.

Good Morning

I figured out the side bars and drum roll please...........I FELTED by hand in a bowl. It was just a bookmark well really it was a swatch but I knitted it bookmark shape., since I am only making pot holders the gauge didn't matter but I needed to make sure the wool would felt...I didn't want to get the machine going for that timy piece of fabric so I poor boiling water in a bowl with wool wash and stir agitated it till it was cool enough to touch then I rubbed it together with my hand for about 10 min and today it is dry and lovely.

Olympic knitting?

I just entered my first knit along. YAY!!! Yarnharlot is hosting this and I am excited to do it. I posted my "entry" bellow. And here is Yarnharots link.

I have never done anything like this but it seems fun and I think I am ready for my first knitting challenge. I have been off and on knitting for 4 years but I am pretty much a beginer..In fact today I am dealing with my first double pointed needles..My biggest knitting challenge is that I am impatient I pick small projects I can finish in a few day max (hats, scarfs, potholders, dishcloths and the occasional teddy bear). So I am going to try a baby blanket, not super hard for most but it will be a challenge for me to stick with it and not move on to another project, Plus I want to do a big one so it should take me the whole time to finish. I have 2 patterns I am toying with A striped garter stitch blanket done in strips and another garter stitch blanket that looks like one of the dishcloth patterns I use. It is knit on the diagonal lots of increasing and then decreasing.(I am very proud of my newly learned yarn overs)

Is there a 12 step program?

I think it must be an adiction...It started as something to do at the Living history museum I worked at. I hated doing it at first it was Cumbersume and akward. Then some saintly German lady Told me I was knitting like an English women and fixed my hands...I was hooked I made 3 starts at scarfs then a very wide long one was made and given to my mother. It was made of a lovely green and brown blended soft yarn, silky and bumpy I did it all in garter stich added some fringe and it was beautiful.
My needles were put away until the passion struck me 2 years later when I bought the Klutz guide to Knitting. I did a few projects out of that then I knitted a hat in the round and fell in love with the process of cirular knitting another hat and my needles were put away yet again, but they have been out steadly now for a year and I don't see them going away anytime soon.
